The Bethune–Cookman Wildcats proudly represent Bethune–Cookman University in Daytona Beach, Florida, showcasing fierce determination and championship tradition. Competing in NCAA Division I as members of the Southwestern Athletic Conference, the Wildcats have built a legacy of excellence highlighted by 31 MEAC championships and a tradition of producing elite athletes competing at the highest professional and international levels. Led by mascot Wil D Cat, Bethune–Cookman dominates multiple sports with 14 baseball titles, six softball championships, and three football crowns. The golden era of baseball under coach Mervyl Melendez featured five consecutive MEAC championships from 2000-2004 and six more between 2006-2011, with competitions hosted at the storied Jackie Robinson Ballpark. The softball team made history in 2005 as the first HBCU to earn an NCAA at-large bid in any sport, advancing to the Super Regionals. Competing from Daytona Stadium to Moore Gymnasium, the Wildcats foster athletic achievement while developing Olympians and professionals. Their track and field programs have produced numerous competitors who have reached Olympic trials, World Championships, and international stages. Bethune–Cookman's maroon and gold Wildcats embody a relentless spirit, honoring their proud HBCU heritage while developing champions at the highest levels.
