The Chattanooga Mocs embody the spirit and pride of Tennessee at the University of Tennessee at Chattanooga. Taking their name from both the moccasin and Tennessee’s state bird, the northern mockingbird, the Mocs have built one of college athletics’ most spirited programs. Competing in the Southern Conference with navy, old gold, and silver pride, Chattanooga has forged a legacy that soars from the Scenic City to the national stage fueled by Volunteer State determination. The Mocs claim four NCAA national championships, including the historic 1977 NCAA Division II men's basketball title and three consecutive NCAA Division II women’s tennis championships in the mid-1980s, underscoring their championship culture across multiple sports. Finley Stadium and McKenzie Arena serve as fortresses where Moc fans unite behind their beloved mockingbird mascot, creating electrifying atmospheres for football in the FCS and Southern Conference contests across 16 varsity teams. From Moccasins to Mocs, Chattanooga competes with unwavering Tennessee values and Scenic City determination. The program prides itself on developing student-athletes who represent Tennessee with honor, proving that Moc spirit conquers all obstacles. The Mocs continue to fly high, with navy, old gold, and silver warriors forging champions rooted firmly in Chattanooga pride.
