Team Profile
The Grambling State Tigers represent a proud tradition of excellence at Grambling State University in Louisiana. Competing in NCAA Division I’s Southwestern Athletic Conference, the Tigers have forged an extraordinary legacy marked by 14 black college national football championships under legendary coach Eddie Robinson’s remarkable 55-year tenure. The program produced four Pro Football Hall of Famers and countless professional stars. The Tigers’ 1961 NAIA Men’s Basketball Championship was a historic first for Louisiana. Grambling’s colors of black, gold, and red honor African heritage and inspire passion in rivalries like the Bayou Classic against Southern University and State Fair Classic versus Prairie View A&M. Venues such as Eddie G. Robinson Memorial Stadium and Fredrick C. Hobdy Assembly Center provide stages for championship growth. Grambling continues cultivating Olympic-caliber athletes and professional stars across multiple sports, epitomizing Tiger pride and a legacy built on excellence, resilience, and community commitment.
