Representing the nation’s capital, Howard fields 21 varsity sports and has thrived with remarkable achievements. The men's soccer program cemented its place in history by winning the 1974 NCAA Division I National Championship and making 12 NCAA tournament appearances, including multiple College Cup berths. Beyond soccer, Howard’s athletic breadth embraces competitive programs across various sports, buoyed by NBA superstar Stephen Curry’s partnership which helped launch the university’s Division I golf programs. The university’s long-standing 20-year affiliation with Nike’s Michael Jordan Brand puts Howard among a select few HBCUs with this prestigious collaboration, enhancing recruiting and national presence.
