Team Profile
The Loyola University Chicago Ramblers embody a historic, landscape-changing legacy, a magical modern renaissance, and the proud Jesuit spirit of their home on the shores of Lake Michigan in Chicago. The university's soul is rooted in its 1963 men's basketball team, which not only won the NCAA National Championship but also broke racial barriers in the historic "Game of Change," forever altering the course of college athletics. That legendary spirit was spectacularly reborn in the 21st century, highlighted by a magical 2018 run to the NCAA Final Four that, with team chaplain Sister Jean as its guide, captivated the world. A 2021 trip to the Sweet Sixteen, which included an upset of a No. 1 seed, cemented their return to national prominence and propelled the program's move to the prestigious Atlantic 10 Conference. The Ramblers' championship culture extends beyond the hardwood, with the men's volleyball program creating its own dynasty by winning back-to-back NCAA National Championships in 2014 and 2015. The Loyola Ramblers represent a program with a story unlike any other, a proud institution that has reached the pinnacle of the sport in two different eras and stands as a testament to the power of courage and belief.
