Manhattan College, located in the Riverdale section of the Bronx, New York City, competes in the NCAA Division I Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (MAAC). Established in 1853, the institution maintains a strong academic reputation, particularly in engineering, business, and education, supporting a student body of approximately 4,500 undergraduate and graduate students. As a mid-sized private college, Manhattan leverages its academic rigor and urban location to provide a solid foundation for its intercollegiate athletics programs.
The Manhattan Jaspers maintain a competitive presence primarily in basketball, baseball, and soccer within the MAAC. The basketball program has historically been the flagship sport, highlighted by multiple NCAA Tournament appearances and consistent conference contention. Rivalries with fellow NYC institutions such as Iona College and Wagner College fuel regional interest and attendance. The baseball program has produced professional-level talent, contributing to the school’s athletic brand. These programs emphasize developing athletes capable of performing at high levels while balancing academic commitments.
Manhattan College’s strategic location in New York City offers significant advantages for student-athlete ROI, leveraging a robust donor ecosystem and an engaged alumni network active in business and civic sectors. The college’s athletic facilities, including Draddy Gymnasium, provide a competitive venue for home games and community events, increasing brand visibility and recruiting leverage. The proximity to major media markets enhances opportunities for media rights deals and digital content distribution, elevating the Jaspers’ profile beyond the local level. Capitalizing on NIL rights, Manhattan student-athletes can benefit from partnerships within a diverse economic environment that includes corporate sponsorships, local businesses, and collegiate endorsements. This integrated approach supports sustained athletic and financial growth aligned with the institution’s academic values.
