Team Profile
The New Hampshire Wildcats represent the University of New Hampshire in Durham with fierce pride and a strong tradition of championship success. Competing across 19 sports in the America East Conference, Hockey East, and Coastal Athletic Association, the Wildcats demonstrate athletic excellence combined with a rich Olympic history. Standouts include women’s ice hockey Olympians Tricia Dunn-Luoma (gold 1998, silver 2002, bronze 2006) and Kacey Bellamy (gold 2018, silver 2014, 2010), as well as Olympians in Nordic skiing dating back to Ed Blood in the 1930s. The 1985 NCAA Women’s Lacrosse National Championship and 1998 women’s ice hockey title exemplify UNH’s championship pedigree. The men’s soccer team has shown recent dominance with America East titles in 2018-2020 and their first NCAA Tournament berth in decades. NHL legends developed here include Hall of Famer Rod Langway, Hobey Baker winner Jason Krog, and Stanley Cup champion Dave Lumley, while football's Jerry Azumah earned the Walter Payton Award and Pro Bowl honors. Home venues host intense rivalries, including the famed Maine-New Hampshire basketball series, and the unique fish-throwing at hockey games, all embodying New Hampshire’s independent spirit and commitment to building champions.
