St. Petersburg College competes as the Titans in the NJCAA, with its teams in the Citrus Conference. The college is in St. Petersburg, Florida, and its athletics history says varsity teams date back to 1927. Current programs include baseball and softball, and the department's history also covers volleyball, basketball, golf and tennis.
Men's golf won national titles in 1968 and 1969 and was runner-up in 1967 and 1970. Men's basketball won the state title in 2002 under coach Earnest Crumbley and again in 2017. Baseball won the state championship in 2005 and finished second at the national tournament. In 2017, women's tennis won its first national doubles championship. In 2005-06, all four Suncoast Conference teams, in volleyball, men's basketball, softball and baseball, won conference titles, a first for the college.
Baseball has produced many professionals. The athletics history counts 68 Titans baseball players who went on to play professionally from 1995 to 2019, and longtime coach Ed Davis, who retired in 1996 after 692 wins, sent four players to the major leagues: Kurt Abbott, Ben Hayes, Howard Johnson and Tim Teufel.
