The Stony Brook Seawolves stand as a beacon of strength, tradition, and competitive spirit at Stony Brook University in New York. Competing in NCAA Division I’s Coastal Athletic Association, they offer 18 varsity sports and proudly wear red, blue, and gray while being energized by their mascot Wolfie. The baseball program made history by reaching the 2012 College World Series with a record 52-15 season, boasting MLB stars such as Joe Nathan, Travis Jankowski, and Tom Koehler. The women’s lacrosse team dominated with eight consecutive America East championships and produced NCAA all-time leaders Kylie Ohlmiller and Courtney Murphy. Venues like Kenneth P. LaValle Stadium and Island Federal Credit Union Arena are home to spirited competition. Lucy Van Dalen achieved a milestone as Stony Brook’s first NCAA individual champion by winning the indoor mile in 2012. Across track and field, swimming, lacrosse, and soccer, the Seawolves have consistently developed athletes who reach Olympic trials and international competitions.
