Texas Southern

The Texas Southern Tigers represent the competitive spirit and proud heritage of Texas Southern University in Houston, Texas. Competing in NCAA Division I as Southwestern Athletic Conference members, the Tigers have built a basketball powerhouse with ten NCAA Tournament appearances—the most in the conference—and a combined 3-10 record tying for the most tournament wins by any SWAC school. Their football program boasts a rich NFL legacy with 60 players reaching the professional ranks, competing at the modern Shell Energy Stadium alongside Major League Soccer’s Houston Dynamo. The cheerleading team broke historic ground in 2023, becoming the first HBCU to win a National Cheerleaders Association national championship. From MacGregor Park to the Health and Physical Education Arena, Texas Southern continues to develop student-athletes who compete professionally and reach Olympic trials in track and field events spanning sprints, jumps, and throws. Maintaining academic excellence alongside athletic prowess, the Tigers embody determination and competitive spirit in maroon and gray, carrying a proud HBCU tradition and partnership with Under Armour to develop future champions.
