Team Profile
The Towson Tigers represent Towson University in Maryland with fierce pride, tradition, and a legacy of athletic excellence. Competing in NCAA Division I’s Coastal Athletic Association with 19 varsity sports, the Tigers wear black and gold with spirited mascot Doc leading their charge. The men’s lacrosse program stands out nationally with a 1974 Division II national championship and strong NCAA Division I performances, including multiple CAA titles. The football program made history as the first NCAA team to compete in playoffs at all three levels, while coach Rob Ambrose earned the Eddie Robinson Award in 2011. Olympic athlete Kacy Catanzaro exemplifies Towson’s high-level gymnastics tradition. Venues such as Johnny Unitas Stadium and TU Arena provide dynamic environments for competition. The program consistently produces NFL stars including Sean Landeta, Dave Meggett, and Terrance West, alongside athletes competing in Olympic trials and international events in swimming, track and field, and gymnastics. Towson embodies a tiger’s spirit of fierce determination and excellence, building pathways for student-athletes to fulfill their Olympic ambitions and excel professionally across multiple sports.
