The University of Michigan Wolverines represent some of the most storied traditions and championship achievements in collegiate sports. Since 1898, Michigan has garnered 40 NCAA team national championships spanning football, men’s and women’s swimming and diving, ice hockey, gymnastics, field hockey, and softball. The football program boasts 12 national titles, including a recent championship in 2023, while the men’s swimming program has produced legends including Olympic icon Michael Phelps. Ice hockey claims nine championships, gymnastics seven, and the school’s athletic legacy is marked by the legendary “Point-a-Minute” teams under coach Fielding Yost. Michigan’s Olympic impact is profound, producing over 200 Olympians who have won 185 medals, including 85 golds. Michigan Stadium, “The Big House,” is the largest in college football and the centerpiece of campus life and spirit.
