The University of Oklahoma Sooners, rooted in the spirit of the 1889 Land Run pioneers, have cultivated a legacy of competitive dominance and rich tradition in Norman. Football is paramount with seven Associated Press national championships and one of the sport’s most historic achievements—a 47-game winning streak under coach Bud Wilkinson. Oklahoma boasts seven Heisman Trophy winners, showcasing a tradition of individual and team excellence.
