Team Profile
The St. Thomas Tommies proudly represent Minnesota’s University of St. Thomas in St. Paul with purple and gray pride. Founded in 1904, the Tommies have developed a rich athletics culture competing in The Summit League and recently transitioned directly from Division III to Division I—the first program to leap so successfully. With 15 NCAA Division III national championships across eight sports, the Tommies exemplify Minnesota grit and excellence. Men’s basketball titles (2011, 2016), women’s championships (1991), and baseball and softball national titles underscore a multifaceted tradition. Facilities like Schoenecker Arena and O’Shaughnessy Stadium create dynamic atmospheres fueled by mascot Tommie. Now competing at a new level, the Tommies embrace the Twin Cities' values of determination and community support, preparing student-athletes for continued success. The Purple and Gray roar louder than ever as St. Thomas pursues excellence on the national stage.
