The program's championship pedigree was established early, with the men's basketball team capturing the 1983 NCAA Division II National Championship, setting a standard of excellence that defines the university. Since moving to Division I, the Raiders have become a perennial powerhouse in the Horizon League, making four trips to the NCAA March Madness tournament and securing their first D-I tournament victory in 2022 in front of their hometown crowd.
