Somto Cyril

Somto Cyril is a Nigerian-born center for the Georgia Bulldogs men’s basketball team, competing in the Southeastern Conference. Standing 6’11” and weighing 260 pounds, Cyril provides Georgia with size, interior efficiency, and consistent rim protection. He wears No. 2 and entered the 2025–26 season as a sophomore after appearing in all 33 games as a freshman.

Cyril began his basketball development in Enugu, Nigeria before continuing his career in the United States. He attended Hamilton Heights Christian Academy in Tennessee and later competed in Overtime Elite in Atlanta, where he established himself as one of the league’s top defensive big men. Known for shot blocking, finishing around the rim, and mobility, Cyril earned Defensive Player of the Year recognition at Overtime Elite while shooting efficiently from the field.

During the 2024–25 season at Georgia, Cyril led the Bulldogs in both blocked shots (1.5 per game) and field-goal percentage (.626). He recorded multiple multi-block games, produced his first collegiate double-double, and played a key role in Georgia’s interior defense. Entering the 2025–26 season, his role expanded significantly. Early in the 2025–26 season, Cyril is averaging 8.4 points, 4.9 rebounds, and 2.4 blocks per game, while converting 74.4% of his field-goal attempts. His combination of efficiency, size, and defensive presence has made him one of Georgia’s most productive frontcourt players. Cyril is currently listed as NBA Draft eligible in 2028.
