The Canisius University Golden Griffins embody a storied basketball past, a modern era of championship hockey, and the proud Jesuit tradition of their home in Buffalo, New York. The university's golden age of athletics was in the 1950s, when its men's basketball team was a national powerhouse, making a run to the Elite Eight and multiple Sweet Sixteens, and consistently ranking among the nation's best. In the 21st century, Canisius has forged a new identity on the ice, where the men's hockey program has become a perennial power in the Atlantic Hockey conference, capturing multiple league championships and earning trips to the NCAA Tournament. The Golden Griffins play their home games at the state-of-the-art LECOM Harborcenter, a premier facility that reflects the university's commitment to competing at the highest level of college hockey. As a long-standing member of the Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference, the Golden Griffins also boast a proud history in sports like lacrosse.
