The Charleston Southern Buccaneers represent the heart and determination of the Lowcountry at Charleston Southern University in North Charleston, South Carolina. Since 1964, the Buccaneers have built a legacy founded on grit, perseverance, and the fearless spirit of seafaring adventurers. Competing in the Big South Conference with blue and gold pride, Charleston Southern has showcased that champions aren’t solely defined by size or resources but by their relentless effort. The 2016 Big South Football Championship and accompanying automatic NCAA playoff berth highlighted their capability to stand tall against major programs, complemented by a competitive baseball program that consistently challenges opponents. With intimate venues such as the 881-seat CSU Field House and Buccaneer Field, where 4,000 passionate fans gather, the energy rivals much larger stadiums. Led by mascot Bucky the Buccaneer, the program embraces a David versus Goliath mindset, continuing to improve and fight with courage. Rooted in the historic port city of Charleston, the Buccaneers’ independent spirit sails on proudly, charting a course marked by blue and gold pride and the resolute courage to conquer all odds.
