The university's legendary past is personified by "Bullet" Bob Hayes, the only athlete in history to win both an Olympic gold medal and a Super Bowl ring, a testament to the world-class speed and talent forged at FMU. On the basketball court, the Lions have a rich history of success, highlighted by a memorable run to the 2007 NAIA National Championship game.
