Team Profile
The Georgia Southern Eagles represent Georgia Southern University in Statesboro with fierce blue and white pride. Competing in NCAA Division I’s Sun Belt Conference, they claim six FCS National Football Championships, making them one of the most decorated football programs in college history. Under legendary coach Erk Russell, the Eagles became the only 15-0 college football team of the twentieth century with three national titles. Their record extends with ten Southern Conference championships and a historic 2014 Sun Belt championship in their first FBS season. "The Prettiest Little Stadium in America," Paulson Stadium, hosts a passionate fan base and has developed NFL stars like Younghoe Koo, Tyler Bass, and Jerick McKinnon. Baseball highlights include two College World Series appearances and the 1962 NAIA National Championship, while basketball has produced NCAA tournament appearances and broke ground with Roger Moore, the first African-American scholarship athlete in the University System of Georgia. Rich traditions, including the Beautiful Eagle Creek lore and the Hugo Bowl storm triumph, fuel Georgia Southern’s unique blend of spirit and championship legacy.
