The men's basketball program famously announced its arrival by winning the Northeast Conference regular-season title in its very first D-I season and later claiming the conference tournament championship while still in its reclassification period. Long before the full transition, the Warriors' men's ice hockey team forged a legacy of toughness at the highest level, competing for decades as a member of the elite Hockey East conference. The Warriors' winning DNA was forged in programs like men's lacrosse, which capped its Division II era by winning back-to-back National Championships in 2018 and 2019.
