Team Profile
The Middle Tennessee Blue Raiders proudly represent Middle Tennessee State University in Murfreesboro, Tennessee, competing across 17 varsity sports as members of Conference USA. Since adopting the Blue Raiders name in 1934, the program has built a century-long legacy of athletic accomplishment and championship spirit. Their two NCAA national championships include the 1965 Division II golf title and the 2007 men’s tennis doubles championship. The basketball programs have created memorable March Madness moments, including the 2016 upset over second-seeded Michigan State and a stunning 2024 women’s comeback against fifth-seeded Louisville. Track and field has reached Olympic heights, most notably with Kigen Chemadi’s 2021 NCAA steeplechase title. Venues like Johnny "Red" Floyd Stadium and the Murphy Center foster a competitive environment as the Blue Raiders develop Olympic-caliber athletes competing at the highest international stages in track, golf, and tennis. With 43 conference titles in track alone and enduring leadership under Hall of Fame coach Dean Hayes, Middle Tennessee continues to build championship traditions fueled by Blue Raider pride in royal blue and white.
