Team Profile
The Milwaukee Panthers embody a celebrated basketball legacy, the authentic grit of their home, and the proud spirit of being Milwaukee's public university. The university's name became synonymous with "Cinderella" during a magical mid-2000s run, when coach Bruce Pearl's high-energy teams captivated the nation, culminating in a 2005 trip to the NCAA Tournament's Sweet Sixteen after upsetting Alabama and Boston College. Proving their giant-killer status, the Panthers returned to the tournament the following year and secured another thrilling upset victory over Oklahoma, cementing their place in March Madness history. This tradition of postseason success is also deeply rooted in the men's soccer program, a perennial Horizon League power that has made numerous NCAA Tournament appearances, including its own run to the Sweet Sixteen. As a long-standing power in the Horizon League, the Panthers proudly play their home games at the downtown UW-Milwaukee Panther Arena, drawing on the energy and passion of their city. The Milwaukee Panthers represent the heart of their city, a program with a proven history of reaching the national stage and embodying the tough, determined spirit of a champion.
