Team Profile
The Navy Midshipmen represent the military spirit and athletic excellence of the United States Naval Academy in Annapolis, Maryland. Founded in 1879, these navy blue and gold warriors compete with distinction across 36 varsity sports in the Patriot League and beyond, embodying honor, courage, and commitment. Navy sports have earned five NCAA national championships, including soccer (1964), fencing (1950, 1959, 1962), and outdoor track & field (1945). The famed football rivalry with Army captivates the nation annually, while the rowing program secured Olympic gold medals in 1920 and 1952. Legends in wrestling and rugby further define Navy’s competitive culture. Competing in venues like Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium and Alumni Hall, the Midshipmen play where tradition and excellence meet. Mascot Bill the Goat and the stirring fight song “Anchors Aweigh” rally cadets and fans alike. When the Midshipmen take the field, Annapolis salutes as champions set sail toward victory.
