Team Profile
The University of North Alabama Lions embody a dynastic championship history, an unmatched football legacy, and the proud spirit of "The Shoals" region in Florence, Alabama. UNA's athletic identity is immortalized by its legendary football program, which made NCAA history from 1993-1995 by becoming the first-ever scholarship program to win three consecutive National Championships. This culture of winning is not limited to the gridiron; the Lions also captured NCAA Division II National Championships in men's basketball, women's basketball, and women's volleyball, creating one of the most decorated legacies in D-II history. After successfully transitioning to Division I, the Lions now bring that championship pedigree to the United Athletic Conference in football and the ASUN Conference for other sports, building a new era of success. The spirit of the program is embodied by its beloved live lion mascots, Leo and Una, who reside on campus in a habitat that serves as a unique and powerful symbol of the university's "Lion Pride." The North Alabama Lions represent a tradition forged by the highest levels of achievement, a program with a champion's past and a clear vision for its future in Division I.
