Team Profile
The Northern Kentucky University Norse embody a proven championship culture, a spirit of fierce ambition, and the proud, growing identity of the Northern Kentucky region. The university's foundation of success was built in a dominant Division II era that produced multiple national championships, including two in women's basketball and one in men's soccer, establishing a deep winning tradition. Upon moving to Division I, the Norse achieved one of the fastest and most successful transitions in NCAA history, with the men's basketball team winning the Horizon League and earning a bid to the NCAA March Madness tournament in its very first year of eligibility. With two more tournament appearances since that historic 2017 run, the program has cemented itself as a perennial power and a consistent championship contender. The state-of-the-art Truist Arena serves as a fortress for the Norse, a modern facility that reflects the university's commitment to competing at the highest level of Division I. The Northern Kentucky Norse represent a new model of success, a program that has seamlessly transformed its championship past into a powerful and ambitious Division I future.
