Team Profile
The Oakland University Golden Grizzlies embody a fiery, high-octane brand of basketball, a deep tradition of conference dominance, and the passionate pride of their Metro Detroit home in Rochester, Michigan. The university's spirit is personified by the "Oakland Zoo," one of the most famously loud and energetic student sections in all of college basketball, who create a truly intimidating home-court advantage inside the Athletics Center O'rena. Under the steady hand of legendary coach Greg Kampe, the Golden Grizzlies have become a premier mid-major program, making multiple NCAA Tournament appearances and earning a reputation for their thrilling, fast-paced style of play. The program's Division I journey includes winning the first-ever NCAA "Opening Round" game in 2005 and a dominant stretch that saw them make back-to-back trips to March Madness in 2010 and 2011. This culture of victory is most dominant in the pool, where the swimming and diving teams have built an incredible dynasty, winning their conference championship for more than two consecutive decades. The Oakland Golden Grizzlies represent a proud and fearless brand of athletics, a program defined by the relentless energy of its teams and the unwavering passion of its fans.
