Team Profile
The Robert Morris Colonials represent Pittsburgh’s Steel City at Robert Morris University in Moon Township, Pennsylvania. Since achieving Division I status in 1976, the Colonials have passionately built a program rooted in revolutionary heritage and city grit. Competing in the Horizon League with blue, white, and red pride, the Colonials carry the spirit of American patriots and championship excellence. The basketball teams have produced eight NCAA Tournament appearances, including a landmark 2015 upset of Duke, and the football program achieved a perfect 10-0 season in 2000 under legendary coach Joe Walton. Historic venues such as the UPMC Events Center and the Joe Walton Stadium enrich the championship environment. The Colonials’ reinstated hockey programs at Colonials Arena have also garnered national attention with upset wins over top-ranked teams. With mascot RoMo leading fans, RMU’s student-athletes embody determination and a fighting spirit inspired by the city’s industrial roots. Honoring their heritage while forging champions on and off the field, Robert Morris symbolizes the tenacity of Pittsburgh and the enduring strength of its athletes.
