Since 1961, the Thunderbirds have displayed soaring ambitions, their mythological mascot inspired by Norse legends of strength and endurance. Across 13 varsity sports, Southern Utah nurtures competitive excellence through programs like the women’s gymnastics "Flippin' Birds," who compete at elite Mountain Pacific Sports Federation levels and produce Olympic-caliber athletes.
