The University of California, Davis Aggies compete with fierce pride in Yale Blue and Gold, representing San Joaquin Valley excellence since 1915. Transitioning into NCAA Division I as members of the Big West Conference and football in the Big Sky Conference, the Aggies boast a legacy made up of eight Division II NCAA national championships. Their 1998 men’s basketball national title stands as a program pinnacle alongside back-to-back women’s rowing championships in 2002 and 2003. The softball team captured the 2003 NCAA Division II crown, while the tennis programs earned four national titles between 1990 and 1993. Olympic achievement is a highlight, with rugby legend Colby “Babe” Slater winning U.S. gold medals as team captain in 1920 and 1924 Olympics. Track and field Olympian Ngoni Makusha now serves as head coach, inspiring elite athlete development.
