The University of Tennessee Volunteers, representing both men’s and women’s athletics, have built a proud dynasty steeped in tradition and competitive excellence in Knoxville. Known as the "Volunteers" in honor of Tennessee’s nickname as the Volunteer State, the program claims 24 NCAA team championships. The Lady Vols women’s basketball team is a powerhouse with eight national championships under legendary coach Pat Summitt, the winningest coach in college basketball history. Tennessee baseball captured its first College World Series title in 2024, marking a historic achievement. The football program boasts six national championships, including the 1998 BCS title, playing in the iconic Neyland Stadium—one of the nation’s largest venues with over 102,000 fans. The spirited "Rocky Top" fight song resonates throughout the stadium, while Smokey the bluetick coonhound mascot embodies Tennessee’s fiery pride.
