Team Profile
The UNLV Rebels represent the heart and soul of Nevada at the University of Nevada, Las Vegas. Competing fiercely in NCAA Division I as members of the Mountain West Conference, the Rebels have built an extraordinary legacy marked by championship glory and Olympic excellence. The program’s crowning achievement is the legendary 1990 Runnin’ Rebels basketball team, which delivered a historic 103-73 victory over Duke—still the largest margin of victory in an NCAA Championship game. Playing on Jerry Tarkanian Court at the iconic Thomas & Mack Center, UNLV basketball has produced three Olympic medalists and numerous NBA stars. Their golf program claimed the 1998 NCAA Championship and has developed PGA Tour professionals like Ryan Moore and Chad Campbell. UNLV’s Olympic legacy shines brightly with 13 student-athletes representing nine countries, earning five Olympic medals—three golds in softball, thanks to champion Lori Harrigan, and two bronze medals in basketball. Beyond basketball and golf, UNLV’s championship spirit extends to the Skatin’ Rebels hockey team and nationally recognized baseball and softball programs competing in state-of-the-art facilities. Across 16 varsity sports, the Rebels continue to build winning traditions and nurture future Olympians and professional athletes in the entertainment capital of the world.
