Tyreak Sapp - Player Bio
Tyreak Sapp concluded a productive career at Florida as one of the program’s most experienced and dependable edge defenders, a player whose value consistently extended beyond the stat sheet. Over four active seasons, he appeared in 49 games, developing from a rotational underclassman into a trusted veteran starter tasked with anchoring the edge against elite SEC offenses. Even when box-score numbers were modest, Sapp’s film regularly showed discipline at the point of attack, the ability to force runs back inside, and the toughness to absorb double teams for the benefit of his teammates.
After redshirting in 2021, Sapp played in all 13 games in 2022, recording 20 tackles and establishing himself as a reliable rotational lineman. He earned a starting role in 2023, producing 24 tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, two sacks, and two forced fumbles, ranking among SEC leaders in forced turnovers and helping stabilize Florida’s defensive front. His breakout came in 2024, when he led the Gators in sacks (7.0) and tackles for loss (13.0), finished top-10 in the SEC in TFLs, and earned a 90+ overall grade from Pro Football Focus—placing him among the top edge defenders in the FBS.
Returning in 2025 as a redshirt senior, Sapp started all 12 games and added 34 tackles, 3.5 TFLs, a sack, and multiple pressures while providing steady leadership. He finished his career with 125 tackles, 21.5 tackles for loss, 10 sacks, and four forced fumbles, along with special teams contributions and multiple SEC Academic Honor Roll selections. Sapp leaves Gainesville as a tough, versatile, and durable edge defender whose consistency and leadership formed the backbone of Florida’s defensive line.
