8 Schools•Division III•Est. 1987
The City University of New York Athletic Conference (CUNYAC) is the "Concrete Jungle Juggernaut" of NCAA Division III, a hyper-urban and deeply cultural athletic alliance. Headquartered in Flushing, New York, the CUNYAC is defined by an identity of "Five-Borough Grit and Hardwood Hustle." Its footprint is entirely contained within the borders of New York City, comprising eight senior colleges of the CUNY system. It is a league where the subway is the team bus, the campuses are vertical, and the student-athletes embody the relentless, blue-collar work ethic of the city that never sleeps.
The conference’s soul is eternally anchored in its status as a pure Basketball battleground. With zero American football programs in the league, "CUNYAC Hoops" commands absolute focus. The conference is a "Streetball-Meets-Textbook" laboratory, characterized by a fast-paced, physical, and deeply passionate brand of basketball. Programs like Baruch, Brooklyn College, and Lehman turn their intimate urban gymnasiums into high-pressure pressure cookers, where inner-city rivalries mean every game is a battle for neighborhood bragging rights.
Beyond the court, the CUNYAC is a fierce competitor in Men's and Women's Volleyball and Track & Field. With a membership built on accessibility, diversity, and commuter-school resilience, the CUNYAC represents the ultimate intersection of "City Pride" and "Division III Passion"—a league where you don't need a massive stadium to prove you are the undisputed king of New York.
