Team Profile
The Colorado State Rams showcase Rocky Mountain toughness and competitive spirit at Colorado State University in Fort Collins. Since transitioning from the Colorado A&M Aggies to Rams in 1957, they have developed a championship tradition in the Mountain West Conference. Legendary coach Sonny Lubick transformed the football program from 1992 to 2007, leading nine bowl appearances and three Mountain West titles. Their home field, Sonny Lubick Field at Canvas Stadium, honors this legacy. Beyond football, Colorado State claims nine Mountain West tournament championships and 11 regular season titles across multiple sports. The volleyball team consistently ranks nationally, and basketball has produced NBA stars such as Jason Smith and WNBA legend Becky Hammon. Olympic excellence flourishes with champions like six-time gold medalist Amy Van Dyken and 1936 decathlon champion Glenn Morris. CAM the Ram, the official mascot, embodies the fighting spirit fueled by intense rivalries against Colorado, Air Force, and Wyoming. Preparing for a Pac-12 transition in 2026, Ram Nation stands ready to elevate its legacy of toughness, resilience, and competitive excellence across all sports.
