The Murray State Racers stand as a symbol of determination, tradition, and athletic excellence at Murray State University in Murray, Kentucky. Competing in NCAA Division I as members of the Missouri Valley Conference, the Racers have developed a remarkable legacy that encompasses multiple national championships and a proud tradition of producing Olympic champions competing on the world’s biggest stages. Led by beloved mascots Racer One and Dunker, Murray State has established basketball prominence with 18 NCAA Tournament appearances, featuring legendary stars such as NBA Rookie of the Year Ja Morant and Hall of Famer Joe Fulks. The rifle program is a powerhouse with three NCAA titles and six Olympic team members, including 1984 gold medalist Pat Spurgin. Additionally, the track and field program has produced ten Olympians representing the United States in sprinting, jumping, and distance events. With facilities including the CFSB Center and Roy Stewart Stadium, Murray State nurtures championship traditions across 15 varsity sports. The baseball program marked a milestone by reaching its first Men’s College World Series in 2025. The long-standing rivalry with Western Kentucky in the "Battle for the Red Belt" energizes the Racer spirit, exemplifying their passion for competition.
