Team Profile
The New Orleans Privateers embody the resilient, swashbuckling spirit of their home, a history of athletic triumphs, and an unbreakable bond with the city of New Orleans, Louisiana. More than any other program, the Privateers' story mirrors that of the Crescent City itself—a journey of incredible highs, profound challenges, and a determined, triumphant rebirth against all odds. The heart of this legacy lies with its men's basketball program, a former nationally-ranked power that made multiple NCAA Tournament appearances in the 1980s and 90s and capped its post-Katrina comeback with an emotional return to March Madness in 2017. On the baseball diamond, the Privateers made history by becoming the first Louisiana team to reach the College World Series in 1984, establishing a proud program known for producing Major League talent. Competing in the Southland Conference from their home at the Lakefront Arena, the Privateers proudly represent New Orleans with a grit and flair that is uniquely their own. The New Orleans Privateers are more than just a team; they are a symbol of a city's enduring spirit, proving that no storm can extinguish the competitive fire of the Big Easy.
