Team Profile
The Nicholls Colonels represent Nicholls State University in Thibodaux, Louisiana, with a proud tradition of excellence and resilience. Since rising to Division I in 1980, the Colonels have competed fiercely in the Southland Conference across 15 varsity sports. Their baseball program leads with recent Southland titles, while football has consistently contended with multiple conference championships, positioning Nicholls as a perennial FCS contender. Men’s basketball has made NCAA Tournament appearances, and the softball team dominated the 1990s with four straight regular-season titles. Manning Field at John L. Guidry Stadium serves as a fortress, inspired by the Manning family’s leadership through their annual Passing Academy. Rooted in Cajun Country toughness and Southland pride, Nicholls builds champions with bayou determination, creating pathways for student-athletes to excel while honoring their Louisiana heritage.
