Team Profile
The Santa Clara University Broncos embody a rich history of legendary athletes, a commitment to Jesuit academic excellence, and the innovative spirit of their home in the heart of Silicon Valley. The university's modern dynasty resides on the soccer pitch, where the women's program has established itself as a national blue blood, capturing two NCAA College Cup National Championships and producing a line of global icons like Brandi Chastain and Julie Ertz. Santa Clara's legacy is just as storied on the basketball court, where two-time NBA MVP Steve Nash led the Broncos to their most famous March Madness moment: a stunning 1993 upset as a No. 15 seed over No. 2 Arizona, one of the greatest upsets in tournament history. This tradition of success is remarkably deep, with the men's soccer team claiming a share of a national championship in 1989 and a legendary football program that won back-to-back Sugar Bowls in the 1930s. As a charter member and perennial power in the West Coast Conference, the Broncos consistently compete for championships across the board. The Santa Clara Broncos represent a proud institution where championship expectations and world-class talent have combined to create one of the most respected and decorated athletic programs on the West Coast.
