Team Profile
Stephen F. Austin State University represents the heart and grit of East Texas athletics, with a fierce identity forged in the Piney Woods. The Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks have won eight national championships, including the 1986 softball national title and NCAA bowling championships in 2016 and 2019. Their softball program is among the nation’s best, with four Women's College World Series appearances. Individual champions have excelled in tennis and pole vault, while venues such as William R. Johnson Coliseum and Homer Bryce Stadium echo with competitive energy. SFA’s purple and white colors embody the strength and perseverance of the timber country, and the ax symbolizes determination to overcome any challenge. Competing primarily in the Southland Conference, the Lumberjacks and Ladyjacks bring uncompromising effort both on and off the field, proudly representing their region’s pioneering spirit and aiming to build on their rich championship history while nurturing Olympic-level aspirations.
