Team Profile
The Vermont Catamounts embody a legacy of sustained excellence, the rugged pride of the Green Mountain State, and a tradition of championship success from their home in Burlington, Vermont. The university's national brand is built on its men's basketball program, which has created a remarkable dynasty of dominance in the America East Conference, making nine trips to the NCAA March Madness tournament since 2003. Vermont's most iconic moment came in the 2005 NCAA Tournament, where the No. 13 seeded Catamounts shocked the nation by upsetting Syracuse on their way to a magical run to the Sweet Sixteen. The Catamounts' competitive fire burns just as brightly on the ice, where the men's hockey program competes in the elite Hockey East, has made two trips to the Frozen Four, and has produced a line of NHL legends including Martin St. Louis and Tim Thomas. This winter sports dominance is perfected by a national powerhouse skiing program that has captured six NCAA National Championships. The Vermont Catamounts represent the pinnacle of athletics in their state, a proud and consistent program that has proven it can compete with and defeat the very best in the nation.
