The Continental Athletic Conference (CAC) is a highly unique and geographically diverse collegiate athletic conference affiliated with the National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics (NAIA). Originally established in 2008 as the Association of Independent Institutions (A.I.I.), the conference rebranded to the CAC in 2021 to better reflect its competitive prestige. Unlike traditional regional conferences, the CAC serves as the official home for NAIA independent institutions scattered across the United States, Canada, and the U.S. Virgin Islands. It functions as a critical competitive structure, allowing geographically isolated or transitioning athletic programs to compete for conference championships and secure automatic qualifying (AQ) bids to NAIA National Tournaments.
