The Collegiate Water Polo Association (CWPA) is an independent athletic conference dedicated exclusively to the governance, administration, and promotion of collegiate water polo in the United States. Founded in 1974, the CWPA primarily represents institutions across the East Coast, Mid-Atlantic, and Midwest regions, serving student-athletes in both varsity and collegiate club divisions. The association governs varsity competition for both men's and women's programs across NCAA Division I, Division II, and Division III levels. As one of the largest single-sport organizations in American college athletics, the CWPA provides automated qualification pathways to the NCAA Water Polo Championship, establishes standardized competitive scheduling, and operates extensive postseason championship tournaments.
