8 Schools•Division III•Est. 1999
The MAC Freedom is a tightly knit, fiercely competitive multi-sport conference operating under the historic Middle Atlantic Conferences (MAC) umbrella. Formally established in 1999 to streamline regional scheduling and secure automatic qualification (AQ) bids for the NCAA Tournament, the MAC Freedom consists of exactly eight elite institutions across eastern Pennsylvania and New Jersey. This conference functions as a grueling independent micro-gauntlet for sports like Basketball, Soccer, Baseball, and Volleyball. "MAC Freedom Hoops" is characterized by highly tactical, defensively exhausting play in intimate campus gymnasiums. Programs like Stevens Institute of Technology and DeSales University bring deep, technically sound rosters to every matchup. For institutions that sponsor football, they step out of the Freedom classification and join their sister conference to play under the unified MAC banner, making the MAC Freedom a highly specialized and intensely localized battleground for Division III athletic supremacy.
