Team Profile
The Cal State Northridge Matadors embody the resilient spirit of the San Fernando Valley, a proud history of championship success, and a legacy of producing world-class athletes. The foundation of Matador athletics was built on a dominant Division II era, a spirit that carried over to Division I and culminated in a 1984 Women's College World Series National Championship for its legendary softball program. This winning tradition was also forged on the baseball diamond, where the Matadors captured two Division II National Championships. In the modern era, the Matadors have made their mark on the national stage with multiple NCAA Tournament appearances in men's basketball and a memorable run to the NCAA Final Four in men's volleyball. The university has a rich history of developing elite individual talent, particularly in track and field, producing numerous Olympians who have represented CSUN across the globe. Representing "The Valley" with grit and determination, the Cal State Northridge Matadors stand as a testament to the perseverance required to succeed in the heart of Southern California.
