Team Profile
The Campbell Fighting Camels represent Campbell University with a legacy of excellence and resilience rooted in North Carolina’s coastal region. Competing in NCAA Division I as members of the Coastal Athletic Association, the Fighting Camels field 21 varsity sports led by mascots Gaylord and Gladys the Camel. Their baseball program features five Big South Conference championships and has produced Major League stars like Cy Young Award winner Jim Perry and Hall of Famer Gaylord Perry. The wrestling team achieved historic success in 2017 by winning the Southern Conference title and celebrating its first All-American in Nathan Kraisser under the guidance of former U.S. Olympic coach Dave Auble. Coached by Olympian Cary Kolat, the program consistently produces athletes who reach Olympic trials and international competition in wrestling, swimming, track and field, and other sports. Facilities such as Jim Perry Stadium and the Pope Convocation Center foster athletic and academic excellence, making Campbell a hub for developing champions with determination and Fighting Camel pride in black and orange.
